William F. Davis
William F. Davis is recognized as a Business Bankruptcy Specialist by the New Mexico Board of Legal Specialization, and is rated BV by Martindale-Hubbell. This certification was derived from a lawyer poll or survey. Mr. Davis has represented Creditors, Debtors, Creditor's Committees and Trustees in numerous complex bankruptcy and commercial litigation matters, including a number of supermarket bankruptcy matters, since the founding of the firm in 1984. Mr. Davis represented the Unsecured Creditors Committee as co-counsel in In re Furrs Supermarkets, Inc., and Mr. Davis and the firm have represented the Chapter 7 Trustee in the Furr's Supermarkets case since 2002, litigating over one hundred preference actions and other claims. Mr. Davis has represented clients in jury trials and non-jury trials involving causes of action arising out of personal injury, business torts, professional malpractice and breach of contract. Mr. Davis graduated from the United States Air Force Academy, receiving his B.S. degree in 1970. Mr. Davis flew F-111 Aircraft in U.S. and Southeast Asia from 1970 through 1977, and was awarded decorations for his service, reaching the rank of Captain in the U.S. Air Force. Upon receiving his honorable discharge, Mr. Davis received his M.B.A. from the University of New Mexico in 1981 and graduated from the University of New Mexico Law School, receiving his J.D. degree in 1984. Mr. Davis is licensed to practice law in the states of New Mexico, Texas and Colorado, and has represented clients in trials and hearings in many other states, including California, Wisconsin, Alabama and New York. Mr. Davis has also represented European clients, and has been involved in numerous international business transactions since 1984.
In addition to his legal experience, Mr. Davis has served two terms as a New Mexico State Senator, from 1989 to 1992, and from1997 to 2000. Mr. Davis was the owner and President of New Mexico Vineyards, Inc., which operated approximately 500 acres of vineyards, in addition to chili and bean farms, outside of Deming, New Mexico. From 1980 to 1997, Mr. Davis was the owner and President of Crown Aviation, Inc., a commuter airline providing small city service throughout Texas and New Mexico, and from 1980 to 1986 Mr. Davis owned and operated a word processing and technical writing company employing over 50 word processing personnel.
